TC TO RICHARD MONCKTON MILNES
Chelsea, Saturday morning / 7 o'clock [16 February 1839]
Dear Mr Mylnes,
I am just going out a second time to be boiled in the Queen's Bench Court,1 serving my country as a juryman; once yesterday was not enough: I had cold, and am got the length of coughing; before night, it seems probable I shall have arrived at Scarlet-fever. Besides I have been the victim of Green-tea!
I dare not undertake for tomorrow evening, right willing as I otherwise were. Pity me.
Your afflicted /
T. Carlyle
