[ca. 9 December 1839]

Did you get a “Testimony”1 today, according to request? It was fully as strong (I think on reflexion) as it ought to have been. Yet I know not what I would alter either;—if it be not that there were some 5 un-revised sheets at the beginning, and some decided correction here and there in them. The rest was properly no correction. On the whole my impression remains that there was less in Meister than in F. R.

By the by Robson has [sen]t me one sheet of Chartism; and left it lying nearly 48 hours now! He will belate us altogether, I fear.

Vol. First of the Miscellanies is ready for any Printer: I think you should stir in it without loss of a moment.— What a Pen!—
