The list of the committee is in a copperplate hand, and the rest as if written by TC with Fitzgerald's signature in addition, in lithographed facsimile, evidently a circular. Edward Marlborough Fitzgerald (b. 1802), Irish journalist and contributor to Fraser's Magazine. He had attended Trinity College, Cambridge, but apparently left “in ill odour,” in 1826.

1. Many members of the committee are familiar names, already noted. Arthur Helps (1813–75) was, at this time, private sec. to Lord Morpeth and previously to Lord Monteagle. Sir Walter Charles James (1816–93), 2d Bart.; 1st Baron Northbourne, 1884; M.P. for Hull, 1834–47. Prof. Thomas Hewitt Key (1799–1875), Latin scholar; prof. of pure mathematics, Univ. of Virginia, 1825–27; prof. of Latin, Univ. of London, 1828–42, and joint-headmaster (later sole) of Univ. College school, 1842–75. Henry Malden (1800–1876), joint-headmaster with Key, 1833–42; prof. of Greek, Univ. College, London, 1831–76. J. S. Mansfield, probably John Smith M. (1812–1905), at Trinity College at the same time as Christie; fellow of Trinity, 1838; called to bar, 1842, and later metropolitan police magistrate at Marylebone, 1860–88.
