TC TO JOHN FORSTER

[ca. 23 September 1840]

Dear Forster,—I was out when your boy came; and had to dine! I think there is nothing glaringly wrong in the German; but the English—you must take charge of that! Does it not verge towards the absurd here and there? In my present haste I can make nothing of it. Help it, help it!— If you think that verse of “Green grows[] inserted where marked, will make my meaning a little plainer, insert it;1—if not, not.—

In immense haste / Yours always /
