TC TO JOHN FORSTER
Chelsea, Saturday [3 October 1840]—
Dear Forster,
If you can borrow for me from your old man that first volume of Noble,1 it will be very convenient; and shall be returned unhurt in two days.
I still calculate on Monday; but let us say 3 rather than 2 o'clock: mutton-chop about 4;—and then in the evening, suppose you should take me to some Playhouse, at [sic] let us see a “legitimate Dramar” together?
I could furthermore like a copy of this week's Examiner for Heintze's benefit:2 small comfort to him, I doubt.
Yours always /
T. Carlyle
