1. Forster pbd. extracts in the Examiner, 25 Dec.: “The whole of the article from which the following passages are taken, is masterly. We like to see the friendly hand stretched out from beyond the Atlantic to greet one of our finest though not best appreciated writers. Mr Emerson will find Landor's grasp as frank and as cordial as his own.”
