Chelsea, Tuesday [31 May 1842]
Dear Milnes,—Alas, I cannot come to you tomorrow. I am full of headaches, heartaches; in a state analogous to certain ancient forms of Enchantment: pity me!
If I knew where your Sister, the Lady Galway was, I would promptly go to see her.
Jeffrey writes from Edinburgh that he will cheerfully sign a Burns Pension Memorial to Sir Peel, and that no time should be lost; but that Wilson ought to begin; likewise that Richard Milnes &c &c.1 I have accordingly written to Wilson. May the Fates and the said Richard Milnes be propitious in all that!
