TC TO [LADY MONTEAGLE]
Chelsea, 17 june / 1842
My dear Madam,
This paltry little cold of mine, waxing, waning, but never honestly departing, was in such force last night that I durst not venture out to Brook Street;1 the more the pity for me! I hope to be luckier some other evening.
Some morning soon I mean to try whether I cannot creep along by the shady sides of streets, and get to see you in spite of the Sun.
I remain, / Yours very truly /
T. Carlyle
