JWC TO THOMAS CARLYLE
[3 July 1843]1
Dearest
It is two o'clock—and nothing has happenedyet of any moment— I send all the letters that came—except the receipt from Leith2— I have been very sick and queer ever since you went—but I will now go out and walk. and subside into my normal state—if possible—
I have written a note to Miss Maurice—ditto to Mrs G. Rennie3 and a “rather weak” letter to Jeffrey—
I wish Pearson4 would come—
Remember me to Mrs Strachey— I will send the Crawfurds address tomorrow if I can get it by then5—
God keep you— Of course I cannot write just now— I am all cast-away so to speak—
Your /
