TC TO ARTHUR PENRHYN STANLEY
Cheyne Row, Chelsea 18 March, 1844
You are extremely welcome to publish that letter of Dr Arnold;1 I fear there is none other of his in my possession; one slight Note I think I have, but it is of no significance except for his handwriting. I hope before long we shall see a good Biography from you.
When you write to Mrs Arnold,2 will you offer her my most kind and respectful regards. The day I spent at Rugby is full of sad interest to me whenever it turns up in my memory;3 to her, if she remembers me, I feel as if I must look like some ominous herald of Fate: we were all so bright and happy that day; and in a little month, it was all so cut asunder, never to be joined more!4 Believe me always
Yours most truly /
