Dear Tennyson,

With the rising Sun we discover Venables's stick,1 safe, leaned agt the wall of the garden, where you and I first went to smoke. I leave it at Moxon's for you;2 it is already there while you read this.

Thanks for your visit of yesterday. Luck on your journey;3 and on all your journies in this world, and in the next; and come and hail me, now and then, while there is possibility of doing it! Courage!—
