Chelsea, 8 jany, 1845—

Dear Sir,

I am about ready with that Work, “Cromwell's Letters and Speeches with Elucidations by &c”; and have decided that it will be better to make myself clear of it in the first place,1—both for my own sake and that of the public.

Before stirring in the matter I should like to hear your word upon it: if you can call tomorrow morning as you pass up to Town, you shall see the Papers and give me some notion of your view of the case.

Yours always truly /

T. Carlyle
