TC TO SAMUEL LAURENCE
Chelsea, 21 April, 1846—
Dear Lawrence,
There has an express call come to me to get a Daguerrotype Likeness of myself and send it to America.1 There used to be a speculation about your going with me and superintending an operation of that kind.
If you are still of that humour, and at leisure any day this week, name your own day and hour, and place of rendezvousing, and I will punctually meet you with my physiognomy ready to be operated on. Of course I should like much that you went with me in such an affair.
Yours ever truly /
T. Carlyle
