TC TO G. L. CRAIK
Chelsea, 12 April, 1847
Dear Craik,— I owe you a shilling, on James the Porter's score; which, unless you accept these 12 stamps, there seems no chance of my ever repaying you, for I regularly forget it till after we have parted,—to my partial regret, as a Believer in Cocker's Gospel,1 among others!
Do not bring me Tait2 when you come; I saw, the other day, all I wanted of it. If you have the Saxon Chronicle,3 I could take it; but indeed am deep in other things just at present,—Pope Hildebrand4 and the like.
Yours always, /
