TC TO EDWARD CHAPMAN

Dear Sir,
As Robson sent me the first Proofsheet of the F. Revolution the other day, I suppose I shall see you, or hear of you, before long. The type seemed very good; only the margins a little too scanty; which defect you have now probably amended. I sent R. the Index too.
In this case of the F. Rn I suppose there are no waste copies to be made up by supplemental sheets from the new Edition; but if there were, I should expect to hear of them: waste from old editions can clearly belong to nobody but me, except for making into bandboxes, or some similar purpose. We will not higgle about what is past; but pray let this be the rule in future.
I also want you to make some inquiry about the state of Sartor Resartus, a Book of mine you have never yet had in hand. Nickisson's edition must be very near the lees, perhaps only some score or two of copies left; and I understand the poor fellow is about quitting business, on account of bad health.1 I could wish Sartor were under your guidance, so soon as convenient.
