JWC TO JOHN FORSTER
[1 October 1847]
My dear Mr Forster
Here I am again, not as strong as an Elephant yet by a good many degrees—but with breath enough, in the EVENINGS, to read out that confounded Manuscript and get it off our consciences So appoint your own day and hour—
Anne gives a most amusing account of Henry's tender despairs on finding me off on Monday.1
What was it he “so wished me to read” a book not bound?
Sunday at seven? or Monday?—or When
Ever affectionately
Yours
Jane Carlyle
