TC TO JOSEPH EDLESTON

Chelsea, 8 April, 1848—

Dear Sir,

Accept my thanks for your new Notice about Oliver.1 All notices and vestiges shew him to us, in an interesting way, consistent with himself; doing his work to the last, whoever may neglect theirs.

The Knight Wyatt, I suppose, must be our Wyatt, tho' Oliver's Letter does not seem to heed his title much.—— Pray do you still know where “Shute-meadow[?]” is; in Cambridge or the neighbourhood? Or whether the “Mr Crumwell” can, by any trace, be identified with the Member for Cambridge?2 The point were really curious if so.

Believe me / Yours with thanks / T. Carlyle
