TC TO JULIETTE BAUER

Chelsea, 14 May, 1848—

Thanks to you, dear Madam, first for translating Jean Paul's beautiful little Book,1 and secondly and more especially for sending me a Copy of it.— Except for some errors of the press, your Translation seems very good everywhere; and certainly there is not often, for its size and of its kind, a more valuable Gift presented to English readers by those that write for them in our days.
