TC TO JOHN FORSTER
[ca. 4 August 1848]
Dear Forster,—Can you keep me a Column and a half or so still open (on chance) till five o'clock? I want to get the Republique Fran¸caise in this week too, rather than next,—to get my hands washed of it, and for other reasons.1 I think too I can have it ready, and lodged in your hands by a man of my own, at 5 this afternoon. When five strikes, if nothing have come,—proceed as if I were extinct.
And at any rate do as you like and can. Yours ever
T. Carlyle
