TC TO THOMAS STORY SPEDDING
Glasgow, 7 Augt, 1849
Dear Spedding,
W. E. Forster of Bradford, my fellow-pilgrim in Ireland, is about visiting the Lake Country on his return. If he can come to Greta Bank, pray welcome him, as you would a most worthy and ingenuous man, who will have many things to say, and to ask while in your company.
Kindest regards to Mrs Spedding and to James at Mirehouse.1 At present, nothing more!
Yours ever truly /
T. Carlyle
