JWC TO JOHN A. CARLYLE

Sunny Bank / Haddington / 4th September [1849]

Dear John

I have a letter from Mr C this morning in which he says he told you Thursday or Friday for my being at Scotsbrig1—it will not be till Saturday—Saturday by the train you specify you may expect me, if you have heard nothing further in the interim— I had a dreadfully fatiguing but almost happy day yesterday in Edinr— My Aunts were so much gladder to see me and kinder and pleasanter than I expected and poor Betty and some others gave me such welcome! But I will tell you all about it when I come—

I got here late last night— I am now just starting on a round of calls—and you may fancy rather nervous at the prospect—

Love to them all / Your affectionate Jane W C
