If you begin the new year with reading this little book1 it will be no bad beginning— It is a jewel of a thing—and the person, whoever he or she be who has translated it has done a good service to the community the original with so many technical terms of Art being too puzzling for any foreigner to read with fluency I cannot write any more just now—for really this cold has laid all my faculties in abeyance—my head is always so oppressed to say nothing of my heart— Besides Thanks God you owe me a letter!
But in all predicaments ever your affectionate
