1. From Herbert Cox, Critic office, 4 Feb., stating that he would be “happy to insert the enclosed advertisement in the next number of the ‘Critic,’ as well as any future announcements of your ‘Latter-Day Pamphlets’ for 5/- each if regularly sent and also to state they shall have fair and impartial notices of their being forwarded to the Critic Office.” The notice advertised the first two of the Pamphlets, the first pbd. 1 Feb. and the second to be pbd. 1 March. The Critic of Literature had been developed in 1843 by Edward William Cox (1809–79; DNB) and in 1849 had been expanded. TC's friends William Maccall and Francis Espinasse were contributors, which may help explain why TC bothered with it.
