TC TO THOMAS WOOLNER
Chelsea, Friday [21 February 1851]
Dear Sir,
A thousand pardons! I forgot your name; and did not know, till now that you are gone full five minutes, that you had real “business” with me,1—a definite appointment even. For in truth I am busy, and a little behind time today.
What can I do, but ask you to come back at the same hour; next time I shall remember who it is!
With many apologies and regrets
Yours truly /
T. Carlyle
