Chelsea, 22 june, 1852—

Dear Sir,

The Print of Mephistopheles Merck still hangs in one of these rooms, to bring us in mind of the obliging Donor among others.1

I return you many thanks for the Ticket to Faust; to which singular Spectacle, more interesting to me than it can be to most people, I had decided at any rate to go.2 Quod FAUSTUM sit [Let the outcome be lucky].3
