Yesterday I heard incidentally of a certain little Stanley, “son of Ld Stanley of Alderley” being here:1 I went to seek him; left a message since he was not at home; after tea he came,—the same little fellow that fed Nero at Alderley last year! I was quite drawn towards the little creature, and affected at sight of him: tell Blanche or his Mother, if you are writing, that he is well, and doing well; and seems a fine spirited little fellow, a favourite with everybody [. … ] promptitude; and feel as if I might bid you say it—as if you were still to be at Addiscombe!
Jack has great things in the wind, I do believe: God speed them. But, as you say, it may be doubted!— I think Summerhill the Dumfries Arcadia is to be sold (at least set up) on Wedy next):2—poor Jack after all.
“Frankfurt am Mayne, Poste Restante” will be a subsequent address Bonn is for an 8 days hence: I will remember Fuz's man at Dresden.—God bless you ever, dear little woman.
