TC TO AN UNIDENTIFIED CORRESPONDENT

Chelsea, 16 Novr, 1852—

Sir,

You will oblige me very much by sending me an exact copy of that Letter of Cromwell's you speak of. The utmost degree of exactness is, of course, the chief point in such a matter. In the passages where you may have any doubt as to the writing or sense, perhaps you could take a bit of tracing-paper, and give me a facsimile of the characters in question, that so I might have myself an opportunity of guessing.

Believe me / Yours much obliged /

T. Carlyle
