Chelsea, 3 feby, 1854—

Dear Neuberg,

I perceive we shall be again engaged at Bath House1 on sunday evening; so, to avoid a disappointment like the last, will you, please, come to us on Monday Evening instead,—we shall then be at home, and nothing to disturb us.

I am again wandering in the deeps,—swallowed in the dark belly2 of the German Dryasdust (fatallest of created Entities),—and feel as if certainly preassured that Fritz will never be attainable by me; that, in fine, I ought, once for all, to quit that horrible province of things!— Yours ever truly

T. Carlyle
