JBW TO JOHN A. CARLYLE
[19 November 1825]
Dear dear Doctor!
What in the world has made you so long of coming? We go this very day, at 3 oclock! However as I am not obliged to be out before then, I may still see the “rippling” of your countenance, and hear the music of Annandale from your tongue, if this intimation, by good luck reaches you in time—
Do not lose a moment you can help, after twelve oclock; till then I shall be taken up with a dressmaker and Doctor Hamilton— I would have sent last night or this morning before you could possibly be gone out; but I have no one here to do my bidding[.] Excuse haste and doily paper1—
Yours always / affectionately /
Jane B Welsh
