TC TO CHARLES CHILDS
Chelsea, 22nd Oct., 1855
Dear Sir,
Here is the only photograph I now have, not altogether the kind Mr. Fitzgerald had,1 but perhaps a faithful likeness—or indeed I do not know? The real possessor (and executor of these things) is one Mr. Tait a Painter in Queen Anne Street, who keeps a photographing apparatus for his own purpose.
I do very well remember that London Coffee House; and shall never forget it tho' I paid but one visit there.2 Ah me! Ah me!
I remain always, / Yours with many regards, /
T. Carlyle.
