TC TO RICHARD OWEN

Chelsea, 7 Novr, 1855—

Dear Owen,

Thanks to your beneficent Friend and you. I have received the Checque; and will duly deliver it at Coutts's, tomorrow afternoon: £10 from Mr Slaney1 (with the Address in full); so that unless you hear farther from me on Thursday morning, please consider the Transaction complete.

Tell Mr Slaney farther, who will be glad to hear it, that the Subscription is understood to be going on rather handsomely; and that there is little doubt the needful sum will gradually be got for these poor old women.

It seems and is a long time since I saw you; which is a matter of sorrow,—to be taken up and amended one of these days.

Yours ever truly /

T. Carlyle
