TC TO J. LLEWELYN DAVIES
CHELSEA, 9 May 1856.
DEAR SIR,
Thanks for your kind remembrance of me. I have looked over your Pamphlet,1—with a just satisfaction at least in the chivalrous spirit with which you conduct yourself in battle. Alas, there is much confusion on all hands of us; many seeking (or what they call seeking), few finding: nevertheless, it is true as written, “He that seeketh shall find!”2
I have forwarded your Book to a quarter where it will be prized, and may deserve to be made known.
Believe me, / Yours sincerely,
T. CARLYLE.
