Dear Sir,

Come tomorrow evening, I shall be here.

The “Mall” cannot be Wharton's Mary:1 my man has brought evidence that she is only 3 years old at that date!— Bring the Letter itself with you,2 and let us have a guess.

I have just ended your Third volume; which I find done in the old excellently faithful and intelligent manner: I have made something of almost all your suggestions,—studying withal to be brief, and to keep down the number of Notes.

The volume goes to Robson tomorrow morning. Many thanks, many thanks.

Yours sincerely /

T. Carlyle
