Dear Sir,
A Brother of mine in the Country wants to see the Printed Sheets (last revises, or whatever they are) of this Book on Frh; and I have received only “Sheet H” (pp. 97–113) in the “perfect” state, and have thrown away all the revises. I see nothing for it but to refer him to you, to give him a fair start in the matter.
Will you please, therefore, bundle up what sheets you have; address them: “Dr Carlyle / Scotsbrig / Ecclefechan N.B”; writing your own name on the outside, and sticking-on that penny stamp: they will go to my Brother in half-a-day; he, after a day or two, will return them to your Address;—and if you tell me, any time, how far your stock went, I shall be able to do the rest of the Affair myself witht trouble.
