Dear Neuberg,
Here is some farther copiable rubbish; of the Hübner1 nature, this time. There is more of another sort, but that I have not done with. This is rather in haste (not in pressing haste), the printer2 rumbling on in a ponderous way at the heels of me. Last week I got nothing but 2 days to my writing3 Haystacks of confusion (in the shape of Proofsheets) came to me, which with this precious Inclosure now sent I only vanquised4 yesterday by candle-light, having omitted my ride.
Two Letters from Varnhagen since you went (my Wife has got them), in one of which he sends due regards to the “trefflichen [excellent] Neuberg.”—
Not to lose this week too, I must end all extraneous procedures whatsoever; and lock myself to the ignominious oar again.
