TC TO HENRY LARKIN
[ca. late Sept. 1857]
My dear Sir,
If you are still in time for that improvement in the little Map,1 it will be very easy, and well worth doing: if the time is gone, never mind.
I forgot to suggest yesterday (what doubtless you yourself are very well aware of), that the best Index is spoiled if there be not absolute mechanical correctness in printing the Arithmetical part of it,—I mean, if the page, referred to, be wrong, and tell one something else than the thing promised! A new reason for taking the due amount of time, and by no means throwing yourself into a hurry.
Yours always truly / T. Carlyle
