Chelsea, 28 Octr, 1858—

Dear Lady Sandwich,

I find the Wife here will come to you on Sunday Evg; it is “according to her promise,” she says. Nothing remains for us, therefore, but to revoke my rash negative; and say that both of us will be ready when your carriage shall please to arrive that evening,—10 minutes past 7, as we shall guess it to be (dinnerat ¼ to 8);—and you need not write farther, if this is all right.

This change to warmth of atmosphere again will perhaps do you good; wait only till the rain dry away!—

Yours ever truly /

T. Carlyle
