TC TO JOSEPH NEUBERG
Chelsea, 28 [27] May, 1859—
Dear Neuberg,
Will you be so beneficent as take this German gentleman1 in hand, and try to do for him what the sacred duties command.
He seems to want a couple of Notes from Humboldt2 translated into English,—“a most vital service,” he seems to intimate. But as he cannot speak one word of English, as as3 I have not half a moment of time, I can make nothing of him, and must roll him over upon you.
To me he brought no kind of introduction (merely got tumbled in); but he seems to be a very innocent little creature.
