TC TO RICHARD MONCKTON MILNES
5. Cheyne Row, Chelsea / 13th July 1838—
Dear Mylnes,
I shall be very sorry indeed, if I cannot wait upon you tomorrow morning. But I am so sleepless and sickly in this fierce weather that I ought to engage for nothing. Leave me to hope the best I can, and to do the best.
There is another little essay of Emerson the American's entitled Nature.1 I think John Sterling has it. Thank you for liking that man!— Yours always truly
T. Carlyle—
