TC TO [JOSEPH COOLIDGE?]
Chelsea, Friday [late Feb.–early March? 1839]
My dear Sir,
Let it by all means be before you quit London! Where we may be when you come back, is known only to the Fates. I now find we are here on Tuesday evening, and also Wednesday evening;—to you not to Sumner! There is a choice in men and Americans: all men are not equally washy and dreary and benevolent—thank Heaven!
My Brother is in Liverpool; the letters from home are a hard stroke today, in the confusion I am otherwise in.
Yours ever truly /
