Dear Milnes,
My Wife and I will endeavour to come. The spirit is very willing; but the flesh is none of the strongest, alas!1— I was in very fair condition, a much improved Literary Man, when I left Annandale about a week ago: but I travelled à la cannon-ball; and the tumbling of the Solway, the four-and-twenty hours of Chaos, have shattered me to ruin, for the time.
