TC TO JOHN FORSTER
[21 February 1842]
The Dame was considerably better yesterday, and is still on the improving hand, tho' not quite so brilliant today, and coughing a little.
I will take extremely good care to keep out of Fraser's way; there is small comfort for me in the neighbourhood of him!— I believe him to be what one calls honest, but timid, egoist—attorneyish &c: I am too happy to have a couple of such eagles as Hall and Chapman to fly at him: let the two parties have the battle all between them.
My Wife is sending some Book;—I none (many as I have here): I am much pleased with Howit, and wish I had the First Series. Did you get Foot's Bowes?1—
Ever faithfully yours /
