TC TO JAMES PHILLIPS KAY SHUTTLEWORTH

Chelsea, 24 May, 1842—

My dear Sir,

Much to my regret, I cannot have the pleasure of attending you on Saturday. My small faculty of dining-out, which extends only to one dinner per week, is entirely exhausted for this time!

Inclosed is my address; the place, you must remember, lies on the road to Battersea. With many kind regards to Mrs Shuttleworth, I remain always

Yours very truly, /

T. Carlyle
