TC TO FRANCES WEDGWOOD
Chelsea, Monday [March 1843?]—
My dear Mrs Wedgwood,
Thanks for your Ticket; which I shall strive to make use of. Thanks too for your kind invitation:—but consider whether it would consist with Scotch prudence to walk up to Gower-Street in order to be conducted to Albemarle-Street?1 Alas!———
I think of putting myself under the protection of Erasmus, if perhaps he will, on sollicitation,2 hold out a hand to me. Marlborough Street and a quiet pipe were no irrational preliminary. Perhaps I may meet you all there, on your road?
Yours ever truly /
T. Carlyle
