Dear Mr Forster

What is it you have to say to me about Mazzini? Not I hope that you are not going to print his article?1

— Oh my Brother!—

I am still as stiff as a poker—obliged to move all in one piece—from rheumatism in my neck and shoulders—the consequence of violent exertions which I made one day in a virtuous cause—that also I have to talk to you about— Still the old story you see! “Virtue ever its own reward, unless something very particular occurs to prevent it”—

Pity me—and accept my pity2—and believe always in this suffering world
