TC TO EDWARD MOXON
Chelsea, 12 feby, 1845
My dear Sir,
It is not certain, after all, that I shall go on with this Book of Cromwell's Letters at present: but if I do, my actual Publishers agree to “let me have my own way with it,” that is to say (for I may entrust you with secrets), £300 ready money on the day of Publication,—they printing, I think, 1250 copies. You will find it very proper, for myself, and I daresay for yourself, that I abide by this offer.
With many thanks for your kindness in the present and many other matters,
I remain / Yours always truly
T. Carlyle
