Chelsea Wednesday [6? May 1846]

Dear Lawrence,

It will do very well, many thanks to you;—only you must say eleven for the hour of rendezvous, as my Wife is going to accompany us, and finds the ½ pas[t]1 10 too early.

Walk steadily therefore with alert eyes, on “the North side” (which I rather call the West side, or side which has the Abbey behind it) of Charles Street (which leads from Storie's Gate to the Bridge)2—and you will see us emerge from Charing Cross side, with a shirt collar not too high.3

Yours always /

T. Carlyle
