TC TO ALEXANDER J. SCOTT

Chelsea, Tuesday, 5 jany / 1847

Dear Scott,—I am really grieved to have missed you no fewer than three times, and not to have seen you at all for so long a period! There seems no certainty of our ever meeting except on special appointment.— Suppose you decide to come here on Thursday (day after tomorrow) about half past 4: you will find a mutton-chop ready, and nothing more, and plenty of talk in the rear of it; and then at any time before 10 o'clock we can convey you by omnibus to the Regent's Park from Sloane Square. That is the best plan; tell us you will do that, and do it.

Yours ever truly /

T. Carlyle
