JWC TO JOHN FORSTER
[ca. 23 May 1847]
Thanks Dear Mr Forster—I will keep the ticket.1 Besides any pleasure I may get to myself; It is not unlikely that our Half-Sister2 may turn up before Wednesday—
I have not heard a word from any of the excited party3—but live in hourly expectation of seeing them back—
Meanwhile I drink a tumbler of cold water and take a short walk every morning before breakfast—a la Harriet Martineau—to strengthen my nerves for the worst.
Ever affectionately yours
Jane Carlyle4
