JWC TO JOHN FORSTER
[25 September 1847]
It cannot be yet Dear Mr Forster— I am better but so weak—can hardly stand being read to, never to speak of reading aloud1—
Lady Harriet Baring has kindly insisted on taking me to Addiscombe—out of the smell of paint. I go on Monday and shall stay till Friday2—on Friday I hope to return up to anything
I have written to Geraldine, washing you whiter than driven snow in the Matter3
Your affectionate /
J W C
